Spring Awakening: Time to Turn the Water On!
Happy March, Austin! As the bluebells begin to peek out across the Hill Country, it’s time to wake up your irrigation system. After months of dormancy, a "dry start" can be hard on your pipes and valves.
Our 3-Step "Soft Start" Guide:
Slow and Steady: Open your main shut-off valve slowly to avoid "water hammer," which can burst fittings.
Zone-by-Zone Walkthrough: Run each zone for 2 minutes while walking the perimeter. Look for "geysers" (broken heads) or "bubbling" in the grass (underground leaks).
Clean the Nozzles: Winter debris often clogs fine spray nozzles. A quick twist and rinse can save a brown spot in July!
March Water Conservation Tip: The "Cycle & Soak" Method
Austin’s rocky and clay-heavy soil doesn't absorb water quickly. If you run a zone for 20 minutes straight, half that water likely ends up in the street.
Try this instead: Set your controller to run for 7 minutes, wait an hour, and run for another 7 minutes. This gives the soil time to actually "drink" the water before the next round.
Customer Spotlight: The Greenbelt Estate
This month, we’re featuring a beautiful property near Barton Creek. We upgraded their 15-year-old system with high-efficiency rotary nozzles. These heads throw larger droplets that aren't easily blown away by our Central Texas winds.
"I used to see mist drifting into my neighbor's yard every morning. Now the water stays on my lawn, and my bill is lower than ever!" — Carlos V.
